The Girl Who Learns To Smile

There is a girl
A pretty girl
With little eyes
And shiny hair
Her face
It glows with
The radiance of her courage
But in her sleep
She wears a furrow instead of a smile

She does not like being fussed over
Thinks it makes her look weak
She does not giggle a lot
Thinks people won’t take her seriously
She may not always show her love
Thinks it will be mangled and not returned

Now she knows
She is among her own
And she can
Put her guard down
Laugh, smile, act silly
And just be
Her own sushine.
